A member asked:

Can an impacted wisdom tooth cause neuralgia?

Yes: Neuralgia is pain that can be difficult to determine the origin. Teeth can cause deep/sharp shooting pains that radiate and/or refer to other areas such as the ear, the temples, the forehead, sometimes neck, and other areas, usually associated with locations covered by the 5 cranial nerve which your teeth are a part of.

It's possible: Often depends upon extent of infection and or proximity to nerve bundles prior to extraction.

Yes: Technically yes. If the tooth is infected, it can cause nerve pain. For best results with wisdom teeth, make sure you are evaluated and treated by a board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon.
