Several: Reading your question it concerns me that he wakes up from a headache. A headache that wakes up child, is getting proggresively worst or associated with any neuro symptom needs to be evaluated asap. Obstructive sleep apnea can cause headaches but it sounds like it has been taken care of. See your doctor and or neurologist.

See the doctor!: If the headache is waking him up i would be concerned and see doctor soon. If he starts complaining after he wakes up it could be tension headache or behavioral. Have his eyes examined also and see if distraction helps and he stops complaining.
