150,000: Colon cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. In 2007 there were 150, 000 new cases diagnosed and 53, 000 deaths from colon cancer. Those are pretty good estimates although a couple of years old.
