Varies: What is clear is that antidepressants essentially never work instantly. Typically, we talk about 2-4 weeks--but that's once we get to a therapeutic dose, which itself may take several weeks. An adequate antidepressant trial can take as long as 3 months--but benefits also can happen much quicker than that.
