Several causes!: If you are heavily working out with weights, you get "delayed soreness of exercise" from this sporting activity the following day or two. If while lifting you have pain, you are spraining yourself, or potentially tearing muscle, or injuring the joint. See an orthopedist, a rheumatologist , or a sports physician.
