SSRI: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are the most commonly prescribed anti-depressants.These include zoloft, prozac, celexa, lexapro, paxil. Many other classes are available. These include dual action meds, such as effexor, pristiq, (desvenlafaxine) wellbutrin, cymbalta, remeron. Tricyclics such as Imipramine or anafranil. Mao inhibitors(parnate, nardil) are old but effective ad's although tricky to use.
