Is topiramate effective for weight loss?

Helps a bit.: Topiramate is used in combination with other agents in prescription weight loss pills. When used alone, it may be safer and contribute to a little bit of extra weight loss when combined with a healthy diet and exercise regimen. For that little bit of weight loss, though, the risk of side effects may not be worth it.
