Why are diabetics prone to complications from swine flu?

Low immune function: Diabetes weakens the immune system. A person with diabetes is more likely to develop a secondary bacterial pneumonia because the immune system is less able to resist bacterial infection than the immune system in someone without diabetes. A person with diabetes should talk with their doctor about getting a flu shot every year.

Body Health: Diabetics are prone to complications from any illness due to poor metabolism. Sugar control influences how white blood cells work and if they can't fight infection conditions deteriorate quickly. Best sugar control equals best health.
