Bipolar Depression: There are different types of bipolar disorder. Get in for an assessment and treatment by a good psychiatrist and stick to the prescribed medication. If despite that you are getting depressed get back in to see your psychiatrist or find a different psychiatrist.

Staying healthy: Eating a well balanced diet and getting enough sleep on a regular basis is a good place to start. Getting regular exercise, even up to 45-60 minutes per day will also help a lot. Some suggest omega 3 fatty acids like fish oil, 2000-4000 mgs per day to help stabilize one's mood.
