Crown: If it has a cap(crown) that has been done, the discoloration can only be taken care of by replacing the crown. Whitening materials do not work for porcelain. See your dentist for tx options.

See below: If the cap is discolored - it needs to be replaced. If the tooth is discolored - and has had a root canal - internal bleaching vs external bleaching.

See dentist: If your "capped tooth" is changing color it can be from two things: leakage under the crown and bacterial invasion, or the underlying tooth structure is getting dark from a necrotic (dead) tooth under the cap.( i'm assuming that this is a all - porcelain /ceramic cap).
