Tooth whitening: The variety of tooth whiteners on the market have limited ability to lighten teeth. Color of teeth varies if the stain is intrinsic which make the bleaching a bit more difficult verses the extrinsic staining from such things as red wine, smoking, blue berries etc. Most will give you some improvement. See your dentist first to see if you are a candidate and to rule out decay.

Probably not: Crest white strips will lighten/whiten teeth by the chemical alteration and removal of surface stains only from plaque, food and/or drink. Discoloration due to age, trauma, interrupted/improper development, medications or excessive Fluoride won't change with strips.

No way to know: Without actually being able to see your teeth, there is no way to give you an accurate answer. Home whitening techniques are milder and have many limitations. See your dentist for treatment options and what you can or cannot expect with each.
