Difficult situation: It's painful when parents can no longer take care of themselves well, but want to be in their own homes. Insight can be very poor. I'd suggest talking this over with your mother's physician, and with staff at the assisted living center. Often staff can work harder at integrating new patients into the community. The doctor can help clarify with you & your your mother, the level of care she needs.

Familiar environment: Familiar home environment best with visiting vna's or care givers. If this not possible then the situation you describe is the nest best.
