Nerve entrapment: Nerve may be entrapped or compressed in this area. Could be a biomechanical cause or trauma. See a podiatrist.

Compression of nerve: There is a soft tissue structure at that location called a retinaculum. This structure is designed to prevent tendons from bow stringing. It is possible that nerve tissue gets entrapped in this structure after an injury or when swelling is taking place. Numbness is not normal, go see the doctor.
