Should i be worried if i had vaginal mesh placed in the past?

No: Most of the time the mesh will not erode into the vagina. Enjoy your repair.

Only if symptomatic: Generally, the majority of women who had a mesh sling or mesh for prolapse placed are doing fine without any issues. However, anywhere from 5-25% of patients can develop symptoms such as vaginal/pelvic pain, pain with sex, vaginal mesh exposure, bleeding, abnormal urination, or other issues which require further evaluation, and in some cases, vaginal mesh revision/ removal surgery.
