Orthodontist: These days the internet is very helpful. Try a google search and type: orthodontist, city where you live. Then look at their websites. Don't just look at the ones on top because often times they pay for those spots. Instead look at several, call and ask questions to get a feel for the office, asks your kids friends where they go and if they're happy. Try www.Mylifemysmile.Org too.

Orthodontists online: The best way to find the right orthodontist for you is to ask friends and neighbors who does great orthodontic work and has a wonderful staff. You can check for orthodontists online in your town and visit some web sites before scheduling a visit.

Word of mouth!: Ask your family dentist first, but also check with your friends and neighbors if they like their orthodontist and call and set up a comsult. You can also go online and check for reviews etc.

ASK: Firstly, orthodontic treatment should ideally be done by a certified orthodontist, not just a pediatric dentist (unless of course there is no orthodontist in your area). Ask friends, family, coworkers for recommendations. There are also internet sites that rate orthodontists (stay away from paid ads) go to braces.Org and look for a trained practitioner in your area (it is the web site of the aao).

Aged out: At 18 your daughter should be seeing a general (family, cosmetic, restorative) dentist rather than a pediatric dentist. Ask friends, family, coworkers, for recommendations. Ask your new general dentist for the best orthodontic specialist in your area.
