Child dental care: Tooth #14 is the upper left 1st molar. This tooth is part of the overall foundation of the bite. Root canal treatment would only be necessary if the nerve of the tooth is either inflamed or infected. Doe your daughter have pain? Does she have sensitivity to hot and cold food or very sweet food? If you are unsure of the need for root canal treatment, take her to an endodontist (root canal doc)

Yes: #14, the upper left 1st (6 year) molar, is an exceptionally important tooth. As it is a permanent tooth, there is no tooth under the gums to come in to replace it. At 7 the root canals will still be very wide, and as such it is recommended that she see an Endodontists, a root canal specialist, for the treatment. Also, bas she is 7, see an Orthodontist to see if the tooth can be replaced.

RCT #14 ?: Generally speaking it would be very important to save tooth #14 (upper left first molar) rather than taking it out. Important that the tooth be treated by an Endodontist at her age. Also the tooth would need to be restored properly (a crown when older), but something strong at this age or she may loose the tooth after all. Make sure that she is in good hands and you trust the dentists involved.
