See below.: Cancer is uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. This can occur in the cervical spine (neck). There are many types of cancer which can originate in the spine. However, most commonly, the abnormal cells originate outside the spine and then travel via blood vessels to other areas of the body including the spine. This is called metastasis.
