Bacteria...: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a specific bacteria that can cause bronchitis and pneumonia. It is cultured from the sputum and the lab also reports what antibiotics the organism is sensitive to (ie what antibiotic will kill the organism!). Whether you have bronchitis or pneumonia is determined by your doctor based on clinical signs and symptoms.

Gram neg bacilli: A member of the enterobacteriaceae family of bacteria. This family of bacteria are commonly referred to as enterics because they commonly inhabit the colon. Klebsiella cause infections of many organs. Some have become highly antibiotic resistant producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases and carbapenemases which can be exceedingly difficult to treat.
