Gram neg bacilli: A member of the enterobacteriaceae family of bacteria. This family of bacteria are commonly referred to as enterics because they commonly inhabit the colon. Klebsiella cause infections of many organs. Some have become highly antibiotic resistant producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases and carbapenemases which can be exceedingly difficult to treat.
