What medications can I take for weight loss if I am a diabetic?

Dr. Peter Denk

Not many options: Unfortunately many of the weight loss meds are diabetogenic and can increase your blood sugar and worsen Insulin resistance. Strict diabetic diet control and exercise including resistance training (weights) are the safest non-surgical options. However weight loss surgery is extremely effective at reducing or even curing diabetes in overweight patients and should be recommended.
A 48-year-old member asked:

Which supplements could i take to aid in weight loss and toning?

Dr. David Sneid
Endocrinology 41 years experience
NONE: There are no supplements that help you lose weight or tone muscles. The only thing that shrinks is your wallet. You need to learn how to eat and exercise in a way that you can live with for the rest of your life. Don't put anything in your body that you don't know what it is, what it's going to do, or what harm it could cause. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or the internet.

But if you're on a diet, it would be a good idea to take multivitamins to make sure you receive y our minimum daily requirements of your vitamins. No other food supplement is going to help you lose weight. The way to do it through regular exercise and watching your diet.
