If i had stomach cancer would doctors see it on a ct scan of the abdomen?

Not necessarily: If the scan was done with oral and IV contrast material, it is more likely the cancer could be seen on ct; if no contrast was used for the scan, it is unlikely cancer could be seen. Some stomach cancers are flat and not bulky; the flat ones may not be demonstrable on ct. Also, very small cancers may no be seen on ct, the best way to see stomach ca is with an upper endoscopy.

Sometimes: Stomach cancers and other cancers that arise in the lining of the GI tract are best visualized by endoscopy. Ct scans are used also to look for signs of spread to lymph nodes, liver, lung, and elsewhere in the abdomen. A ct scan can not diagnose a stomach cancer.
