Possibly displaced: If you can only feel one thread of the iud, there is a possibility that the iud is out of place within the uterus. This could be contributing to your cramping and discomfort. It would be best to go see your ob/gyn to ensure the iud is properly placed.

See your physician: Your physician can do an ultrasound and confirm that the Mirena (levonorgestrel) is in the right place. I would not recommend hunting for the other string. If you feel one, the other is probably there somewhere. You may have ovulated and be having cramping from that. If you are finished with childbearing, you may want to consider essure. A permanent contracepiton.

See your doctor: Iud's can cause pelvic pain, but pelvic pain can also be caused by bladder or pelvic infections, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and many other things. I would recommend that see your doctor asap and get evaluated for these things.
