Varied options: Acne treatments are often geared toward the types of acne bumps you have. Blackheads and whiteheads often respond well to things containing salicylate acid or benzoyl peroxide some of which can be found at your local drug store. Inflamed pimples and pustules often need some form of antibiotic, either topically or from a pill. A dermatologist can help if simple things don't work.

Serious Rx: Food choices aren't the key. Topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated is your best friend, or isotretinoin; a salicylic acid wash if you can find one may also help. If you are not better in a few weeks, your personal physician can add something. The oral contraceptive pill or spironolactone are options for a young woman. Best wishes.
