Macrobid: This antibiotic is used quite commonly for treating Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). The doctor should have a culture report that shows what antibiotics will work against the bacteria found in the urine. Sometimes a patient's allergies or the bacteria's resistance causes the doctor to choose a certain antibiotic. I've seen many patients get better on Microbid (nitrofurantoin). See doc if no better
