Not clear: Tighter muscles are ?Much more prone to injury than flexible ones. Observational studies and randomized trials have found conflicting results on whether stretching prior to exercise is helpful for preventing injuries. Warming up can increase your flexibility. Systematic reviews have found that muscle stretching does not reduce delayed-onset muscle soreness after exercise.

Flexibility: You can prepare the muscle for activity to prevent muscle strains and tears. It is also important to stretch regularly to improve and maintain flexibility.
