Call it "stoppable": Retinopathy is damage to the retina, which is the lining at the back of the eyeball that receives light that passes through the lens. Common causes of retinopathy include diabetes and high blood pressure, both of which damage the small blood vessels that nourish the retina. Stopping the diseases will prevent or stop retinopathy, but prior damage is not fully curable.
