Heart rate problem: Sick sinus syndrome is a vague medical term referring to a problem with the heart's sinus rhythm. It can include rhythms that are too fast, too slow, irregular, or all of the above. If symptomatic, it is often treated with a pacemaker. It can be a symptom of aging, or of a deeper problem. Sick sinus syndrome: Sick sinus syndrome is a cardiac conduction disorder where the hearts spontaneous pacemaker, does not send its electrical impulses quick enough to keep the heart beating as fast as your body requires. It results in the heart rate becoming too slow, not getting fast enough during exertion, or waiting too long to spontaneously restart after a fast heart rate. Can be treated with pacemaker. See doc
