Medically speaking, what should i consider when choosing a retirement community?

Depend: You would need to clarify about moving into the retirement community. If there is a facility like springpoint where there is a physician and nursing staff on site then you might want to consider it. Otherwise, some retirement community have private entrance without providing physician/nursing service or have no private entrance with clubhouse providing very limited nursing service. Please check.

Options: A continuing care retirement community can be different than the average retirement community. I think you need to look at what your current medical needs are or anticipated needs in the future. If you are healthy - the location of the nearest hospital may be of interest. Do you want independent living, assisted living or nursing home care? Are there varying levels of care at same site?
