Depends: Adenomyosis is the growing of menses in the uterine muscle and like fibroids pictured here, can cause painful prolonged bleeding and sometimes infertility. So what to do depends on your symptoms. If no symptoms probably nothing needs to be done. Keep an eye on and feel for your symptoms.

Surgery if Symptoms: No medication permanently shrinks fibroid tumors, nor adenomyosis. If you have symptoms options exist to help improve them: birth control pills or Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud may lessen period bleeding and cramps. Hysterectomy (fibroid uterus removal), preferably laparoscopic or vaginal routes, best choice if family complete.
