Orthodontist: Some degree of "overbite" is normal. I have patients who seem to think their front teeth should come together edge to edge. The normal bite has several millimeters of overbite. If you think your overbite is excessive, you should consult with your dentist. The dentist may be able to treat this or refer you to an orthodontist who can treat your teeth with braces or other appliances.

Overbite: Usually an overbite can be caused by a variety of reasons, either by teeth or a combination of teeth and mismatched jaws and/or a combination of the above as well as any tongue/finger habits. Best to have your bite evaluated by an orthodontist.

Braces: Is the overbite dental, skeletal, or both. Are there other factors (malpositioned teeth). Do jaws come together properly. Please see an orthodontic specialist for evaluation of your problem and suggest treatment options.
