Brain swelling.: Papilledema is something a doctors sees when looking into the eye. It is swelling of the optic nerve, and can be caused by increased spinal fluid pressure. One possible cause cane be a brain tumor, but there are others. Evaluation requires brain imaging (ct or mri) to see if a tumor is present.

Papilledema: This refers to swelling of the optic disc caused by increased intracranial pressure. So if something is in the brain, let's say a tumor (that should not be there) it causes pressure. The skull is a finite space and if too much fluid builds up it leads to increases pressure. This can be seen by looking in the eyes and sometimes we see papilledema. Hope this helps.
