Only for diagnosis: Lymphoma is treated with medicine (chemotherapy). The only role of surgery is to get tissue so we can determine what type of lymphoma is present.

To make diagnosis: In follicular lymphoma lymph nodes are only removed to make a diagnosis. Surgical resection of additional lymph nodes does not provide benefit.
