1 - 2 years: It varies widely, based on the amount of correction needed. The average metal braces takes from 1 to 2 years. Broadly, the duration of braces treatment depends on the severity of the problem. The more severe the occlusal problems, the longer ortho treatment will take. Typically metal braces move teeth slightly faster than ceramic ones. Talk to your orthodontist to get a better estimation.

No average: Everyone is different. There is no real average if you are talking about an adult. Kids, however usually take about two years of treatment.

Braces: It really depends in what needs to be done. It could be as short as 6 months and as long as 3 years.

18 months nationally: Which is also the average in our office. The more complex the problem, the longer it takes to treat. Most kids treated in 1-2.5 years. Adults take 25-33% longer. End result is a lifetime's worth of improvement and wonderful smiles.
