I have to get four front teeth extracted before i get braces. i'm self conscious, so how long will it take before the gaps close completely w/ braces?

Treatment plan: Speak with the orthodontist prior to treatment so you know exactly what to expect and if any provisional appliances would be needed.

Aprox. 6-12 months: The length of time to close extraction gaps depends on your unique case and I would suggest a complete evaluation with an orthodontist to find out a more clear time projection.

Extractions: Extractions required for Orthodontic treatment are usually of the 4th or 5th oooh back, not the front ones, so the temporary esthetic burden is minimal. Think of it this way, if you had a broken leg you would have to wear an ugly bulky cast, tut in the end it's worth it. Make sure you are being treated by a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist, and discuss your concerns with him/her.
