Extractions: Extractions required for Orthodontic treatment are usually of the 4th or 5th oooh back, not the front ones, so the temporary esthetic burden is minimal. Think of it this way, if you had a broken leg you would have to wear an ugly bulky cast, tut in the end it's worth it. Make sure you are being treated by a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist, and discuss your concerns with him/her.
