Why do insurance companies not pay for lasik or elective surgery?

Not necessary: Medical insurance is to provide payment for medically necessary issues. Lasik is sort of a cosmetic surgery, not necessary for health.

Cost: Insurances only cover medically necessary procedures due to cost. If someone wants a cosmetic procedure, you have to pay fir it yourself.
