Is constipation an effect of a vp shunt?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

VP shunt: Constipation may be caused by opiate pain meds after procedure but usually is not complication of a vp shunt. However, if a child has constipation, it can increase abdominal pressure and decrease vp shunt functioning resulting in neurological symptoms.
