No: Sleep apnea is a treatable disease. Weight loss is the cornerstone of treatment in pt's with a BMI above 30. CPAP is the first line therapy and there are surgical options as well as mandibular advancement devices that can be used. Sleep apnea is a treatable condition.

Depends: Sleep apnea is definitely a disabling condition, but in agreement with dr. Melder, it is a treatable disease. If you believe you are affected by obstructive sleep apnea, a consultation with a physician that specializes in sleep disorders is the best first step to take in getting treated.

Sleep Apnea: Sleep apnea can be a disability if untreated or even if treated and causes symptoms of excessive sleepiness, tiredness, cognition, memory, comorbid severe medical conditions most disability applications will raise your premium if you apply as sleep apnea increases morbidity and mortality risks.

Usually not: As long as the obstructive sleep apnea is treatable disease , it should not be a disabling disease, however some severe uncontrolled cases could be disabling.
