Ask your dentist!!: Make sure to communicate with your dentist first. Any medications you're on can affect what they're planning on doing so you'll want to plan ahead of time for your own safety.

No: Take the valium only. If you are scared you just need help to relax. Vicodin is for pain and you can take it after the procedure. It is not a good idea to combine strong medications if there is no need.

Premedicating: It is common for patients to have medication to reduce anxiety prior to dental appointments. There is a compounding sedation effect when opiates such as hydrocodone are in combination with valium. Rather than self medicating, i suggest you talk to your dentist about oral sedation in combination with laughing gas. There are better choices than vicoden. And make sure someone is driving you.

Call your doctor: It may be just fine for you to take the medications, but please call your surgeon's office to ask this question, and plan to have someone drive you.

Yes : You can take vicodin and valium prior to procedure as long as it is prescribed by your dr. And there are no contraindications such as hypersensitivity, etc. Also, sign your consent form prior to these med's. Taking them prior to the consent invalidates it since your decision making capacity is considered impaired.
