Depends: What the bleeding is from in the first. Cirrhosis clearly complicates things and bleeding is a common consequence. I would make sure he has received car from a tertiary care center.

Needs clarification: Optimal management for end stage liver disease / esld, requires a close relationship between the patient and their doctor( s). Many esld patients need frequent endo for emergent bleeding control - especially for varix (banding is more effective). Tips / shunting - is life saving when indicated. The frequency of transfusion and endo maybe reduced if he is medically optimized.
