Break fevers?: Fever is a vital defense; one does not "break, " "control" or "treat" fevers. One should, however, attempt to make the child more comfortable by giving p.O. Fluids, Acetaminophen or motrin, sponge baths, ventilate the room, dressing lightly, etc.

Careful: Fever is an experience every person has. By itself, it is harmless, even though it is uncomfortable. The key issue with fever is that it may indicate more serious illness than a cold, seek help if you think this is possible. We recommend Ibuprofen over Acetaminophen for control of fever. But note- fever since it is harmless should not be overtreated. Do not give too much medication.
