Yes and no: Many of us applaud expanded coverage and provisions that iron out inequities in health care, but many are disappointed in what now appears to be permanent entrenchment of the insurance and third party payer system. The key to solving our health care problem is to let doctors and patients negotiate and pay for health care directly. You would be surprised at how inexpensive that can be.

Folks need insurance: The new law creates state or federal websites (called health insurance marketplaces or exchanges) where the uninsured can go to buy health insurance. California's is called covered california, and is where people can compare and select health insurance plans offered by private companies, and go to find out if they are eligible for financial aid to help afford insurance.
