Depression: Anyone who has difficulty with cutting themselves should be seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist. Contact your dr. And see if you cannot get a referral. These usually go along with anxiety and depression but i think professional care is indicated. Cutting is always a warning sign and needs professional help.

Besides therapy....: Agree with Dr. Harris. Recommend Dialectical behavioral therapy and med mgmt with a psychiatrist. Aim for daily exercise, 8 hours of sleep per night & good nutrition w 5 servings of veggies & 4 of fruit per day. Try tai chi, yoga, Qi Gong, progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing exercises & meditation. Don't isolate - spend time w friends & stay active.
