Usually not: There are few inherited conditions which cause obesity. Most obesity is not inherited, but obesity does tend to be "familial". One can be genetically destined to have more efficient energy use, smaller energy needs, or "slower metabolism"; and thus may become obese even if eating just moderate amounts of food; but he won't get obese if he wills himself to eat less food. He didn't inherit obesity.

Small portion: Obesity is the product of many factors including genetics. Beginning at the cell level, moving to the familial, community, cultural, social, and national levels. The tremendous uptick in obesity rates is certainly not the product of altered genetics but rather an overall societal trends towards enormous portion sizes, high fat & sugary foods, and decreased physical activity.

Obesity inherit: There is a description that the outcome or phenotype, is a combination of genetic factors and environmental factors. In this case, there are over 50 different genes that have been linked to obesity. But there is always an interaction with the environment. In this case, our environment has made access to food, portion size, and calorie content too large. The genes haven't changed, environment has.

No: its inherited by the same bad habits that your parents gave you since your childhood. There are rare genetic conditions too which can cause it but majority of cases are from diet and lifestyle issues. MC4R gene and FTO gene issues are the most common inherited causes of genetic obesity

Hardly ever: Obesity is due to poor diet, a massive amount of sugars added to everything. and lack of exercise. When I graduated high school in 1960, we had not one kid in 300 plus affected with morbid obesity. Our epidemic today is due to unhelthful food (high fructose corn syrup--HFCS--invented by a Japanese scientist in 1960). poor exercise, and a loony food pyramid--way too many carbs, and NOT ENOUGH FAT
