See a doctor: Thyroid disease can be inherited and difficulty swallowing along with a lump in your neck or pain can definitely be signs of a problem with your thyroid or other serious illness. Please have this evaluated by a physician.

Thyroid: Would get thyroid, neck ultrasound. Do lab test for thyroid fiction and antibodies. Goiter mostly is non painful.
