Fear Not: You will be sedated and probably hardly aware that it's occurring. Incidentally, panic disorder is a contributing factor to svt. Ep is a low risk procedure. Risk of death for svt is <0.1% and probably even lower. Consider a 2nd opinion at emory in atlanta which is world famous for its cardiac treatment. Would not consider ep for rare sx or until after a trial of medication.

Try Relaxation: If you want to avoid medication for your panic attacks, i highly revommend the book: the relaxation response by benson. Read the entire book, the start doing the exercises as contained in the book. Start with 5 minutes twice a day working up to 10 minutes twice a day. You will soon learn to relax instantly, anytime you want or need to, like prior to a procedure. It's not hard. Good luck.

Risk is low : Risk is very low for any significant complication...<3% for bleeding or infection. Actual risk best obtained from electrophysiologist performing procedure. Sedation is given during the procedure....
