Intravenous adenosine is used to terminate SVT & is usually quite effective even though more than 1 dose may be needed. Can we be sure the arrhythmia was SVT & not sinus tachycardia,A fib or A flutter? An electric cardioversion if not properly synchronized, can induce dangerous ventricular fibrillation. If this occurs unsynchronized defibrillation must be carried out immediately.
