A member asked:

What year did peanut butter and nuts turn deadly?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Internet myth: Despite the decades of hoopla about food preservatives being horrible for people, the best-attested instance of cancer due to something in a staple food is aflatoxin in moldy ground nuts eaten by the world's poor. Of course, this eventually got hyped into all nuts and peanut butter "causing cancer". You can't totally avoid carcinogens, but you'd be "nuts" to let this fear dominate your life.
