What is a patulous eustachian tube autophony?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hearing yourself: The term describes a condition in which patients can hear their own breath and voice much louder than normal. It occurs when the eustachian tube (which is normally closed) is open more than normal. This is can be very annoying. Luckily it is much less common than eustachian tube dysfunction in which the tube is more closed than normal (congested) and patients feel like they can't hear as well.
