Lubrication : There is normal joint fluid to allow the bones to glide on each other. There can also be swelling around the joint.

Possible cyst : Fluid in the ankle may be due to a cyst in that area, arthritis of the ankle joint, tendonitis or a sprain. Please see your podiatrist to ascertain what is actually causing this problem.
