Mri and knee injury--is that best test?

Physical exam: An MRI is useless without a good physical examination. In fact, MRI 's should not be ordered unless the treating physician has performed an adequate exam and has an idea what he or she is looking for !

For soft tissue: If your looking for a soft tissue injury like a ligament injury , meniscus tear, contusion, tendinitis, bursitis, or muscle injury this is the best imaging test after a physical exam and a x-ray screening is done. It also shows bone stress injuries and tumors that x-rays miss.

Maybe: The best test for knee symptoms is the one that diagnosis the problem correctly. That sounds a bit vague, but if your knee injury is diagnosed properly with an x-ray, or ultrasound, or blood test, or physical exam, then that is the best test. Many times, these tests are not helpful, and your Doctors will then increase the complexity and costs of testing up to the level of an MRI or endoscopy.
