Scarring: Adhesions are the formation of scar tissue after surgery. This scar tissue can cause abdominal problems, including intestinal blockage. Adhesions can occur with any surgical procedure in the abdomen, including any form of bariatric surgery. Consult with your surgeon on the incidence of this complication.

Like cobwebs: Adhesions form after every surgery. They look like filmy cobwebs. Thankfully, that is god's way of healing. Rarely, the adhesions can cause a later bowel obstruction if they loop around them (more common after pelvic surgery like appendectomy or hysterectomy). Most adhesions are helpful. Comes with the body's healing.
